We would love to arrange a farm-volunteer trip for your group!  Workdays range from 3-8 hours, including a brief orientation and a reflective/interactive discussion after the work is done.  Our discussions form the core of the volunteer experience, connecting our farmwork with a deeper understanding of the larger systems that sustain us.  Please read the following factors to consider, and then fill out the volunteer interest form below.

FACTORS TO CONSIDER before taking a trip with theMOVE:

  1. AGE: Who is your group made up of? If you are all adults, many farms will welcome the help. If you are bringing a youth group, the youth must be at least be 10 years old, though many farms have a minimum age requirement of 14. Please also consider the appropriate number of chaperones — 1 adult per 5 middle school youth, or 1 to 10 for high school youth.  If you are a group of families with a small number of youth below the age of 10, we may be able to find a farm that can accommodate you.
  2. SIZE: How many people are in your group — including youth and adults?  The minimum group size is 8, and the maximum is typically 12-15. Some farms are able to handle 20+ volunteers.
  3. TRANSIT: What is your mode of transportation?  Do you have access to a bus/van, or are you able to carpool?  Bus/van/carpool options are highly preferred, as most farms are not easily accessible otherwise.  Some farms are T-accessible (bus from the Orange/Green Lines).
  4. TIMING: When is your group available to volunteer?  The ideal time is on weekdays anytime from 9a to 5p.  However, a small number of farms are open on weekends.  Please be flexible about when you are available, as farms are often busy with other tasks and other volunteers.

If your group might be interested in volunteering with us, please fill out our GROUP VOLUNTEER INTEREST FORM, and we will follow up with you as soon as we are able. For more information please email Dave at dave@getoutma.org. Thank you!
